FAQs

The steam coming out of the unit feels cool, not hot. Why?

When the water reaches 100 degrees, your unit will produce steam. The moment the steam hits the air, it turns back into water and cools.

Is the use of distilled water necessary?

We recommend using distilled water for best performance. Tap water can be used in areas with soft water, but hard water may cause mineral deposits to build up and reduce the lifespan of your steamer.

Do garment steamers works better than irons?

Garment steamers and irons serve different purposes. Steamers are ideal for quickly removing wrinkles, refreshing fabrics, and sanitising garments without direct contact. They’re especially effective on delicate fabrics, structured garments, and items that are difficult to iron, such as dresses, suits, and curtains.

Can I use a Steamfast garment steamer on all fabrics?

Steamfast garment steamers are safe for most fabrics, including cotton, wool, silk, polyester, linen, and blends. Always check the garment’s care label and test steam on an inconspicuous area first, particularly for delicate or embellished fabrics.

Can garment steamers remove odours and freshen clothes?

Yes. Steam penetrates fabric fibres to help reduce odours caused by smoke, food, and general wear. It also helps refresh garments between washes and can reduce bacteria and allergens.

Are these steamers suitable for commercial or retail use?

Yes. Models such as the SF-760 are designed for frequent use and are suitable for fashion retailers, boutiques, costume departments, and hospitality environments, as well as home use.

How long does it take for the steamer to heat up?

Most Steamfast garment steamers heat up in under a minute, allowing you to steam garments quickly and efficiently without long wait times.
